Free Up Mealtime with Slow Cooking
Coming home from work can be a hectic time of the day. You need to get your children from after-school activities or daycare then rush home to cook dinner to have it done in time so you can spend maybe an hour with your children before bed. Most people take about an hour to prepare and cook a decent meal and when people don't have this hour or want to spend the hour with their children they choose unhealthy alternatives for dinner. What if you could make a meal that is nutritious and have it ready faster than driving through a fast food drive thru? You would have that extra time to relax and quality time with your children knowing that you have provided your children with a home cooked meal and the attention that they need.
Everyone has heard of slow cookers or crock pots but many don't use it as much as they should. The slow cooker is a marvelous invention. You can throw in your whole meal into one pot and during the day while you work your food is cooking. When you come home you have a meat, potato and vegetable dinner waiting for you and your family. How much more balanced can you get? All you need to do is scoop it out and it's warm and ready. There are thousands of recipes for slow cookers. You can basically cook anything you want in a slow cooker. Many of the recipes that you make on the stove or in the oven can be thrown into a slow cooker. Try to search for slow cooker or Crockpot recipes in a search engine. You will be surprised at what you can find. Many of the recipes will entail you to cut up vegetables to place in the Crockpot which doesn't take much time at all. Some recipes can even be prepared the night before, placed in the fridge overnight and then tossed in the Crockpot in the morning. Mornings are just as busy as after work time but preparation for dinner in the morning will be easier and faster when you are well rested.
You could even wake up 20 minutes earlier and have everything ready to go before your children are even out of their beds. That way you have a head start on the day and have freed up time in the evening. Being a mother is difficult but there are ways to cut corners that will make you feel good about your decisions. You don't have to feed your children unhealthy food to spend time with them. You can find alternative ways to provide them the home cooked meals that they will love and have the pleasure of having more time with your children.
